What is your current role at Kühne + Nagel and what are your responsibilities?
I have many roles at Kühne + Nagel! But primarily I am a content manager, responsible for all written material regarding Seafreight North America and for the project “Care”. This project overall seeks to achieve a better customer experience, and therefore, implements global initiatives that focus on the improvement of employees’ engagement. Here, we are following the logic that employees , who are “cared” for will go out to deliver enhanced customer excellence.
Within our Seafreight department I mainly handle all written material such as our internal webpage, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and more. For Care, I routinely edit our ever evolving material, distribute them to our global stakeholders and gather success-stories from employees around the world for mass distribution within our organization. I receive requests, create material and publish them via our internal collaboration platform MyKN.
How does your daily work routine look like? What do you like about it?
My daily work routine can vary day to day depending on the tasks I have ahead of me. Right now I am working to create and maintain pages on our internal site and onboarding those who will be supporting it.
I like my work because I am able to collaborate with people from all over the world. Sometimes it’s even weird to know that the person who you are working with is a whole day ahead of you. But no matter who I am working with around the world, the company’s culture is present. Everyone is so pleasant and eager to help, which makes our jobs all the more easier.
Please describe a special project which you’re working on in your role. Why is this current project important for Kühne + Nagel? And what excites you about this project?
Mawuena Sedodo, Content-Managerin bei Kühne + Nagel in Jersey City.
The special project I am working on is called Care. It is extremely important for a multitude of reasons, mostly regarding customer retention. As I stated earlier, Care is a Kühne + Nagel initiative which aims to increase customer service excellence through employee engagement.
It started out in one business unit, but the momentum for the program and all of the benefits that resulted from it, led to it becoming a companywide initiative. The Care-program is now live in many of our branches around the globe, including Los Angeles, Singapore, Dubai, Johannesburg and many more!
Through this project we equip our employees with tools, tips and workshops on how to deliver the best service to our customers, mainly our small and medium sized customers who may feel like our company is too big for their needs.
What perhaps makes this initiative most special is seeing the impact it has on our employees. Seeing them feel appreciated through our employee engagement tools lets us know that we are doing our jobs well, ensuring that they’ve picked the best place to work!
What skills are necessary to make a good job at Kühne + Nagel?
People skills! There are many personalities and cultures here and you have to know how to interact with all of them.
How would you describe the corporate culture of Kühne + Nagel? What do you like about it?
Corporate culture here is like no other. It really is a family here. We all work hard but still take the time out to care for one another and make it a great place to work.
